Reflecting on Haiti

Last summer I spent a few weeks doing humanitarian aid in Haiti. The group that I went with, Sustain Haiti,
asked me to write up something about my experience for their blog (http://sustainhaiti.blogspot.com/), and it started me thinking a lot about that trip and the people there. I'm way excited to be going to Korea and Uganda and seeing news places, but sometimes I feel a little disloyal. The people in Haiti still need so much help, and now that I have personal connections and friends there, it seems all the more important to do something. I guess different times mean different opportunities, and I'm certainly not complaining that we're travelling too much this summer to fit in Haiti, but I do hope to get back there again. I never made any real commitments to go back, but I still feel a bit of a need to see my friends again and make sure that things are improving.

  1. Brit, I have a lot of respect for you, you have had a lot of amazing opportunities but it's mostly because you make them a priority in your life. I know if Haiti is somewhere you are supposed to be you will find a way to make it back there! Good luck with all your trips. I can't wait to read about your adventures!
