Some pictures

I realize I haven't posted any pictures yet of New York yet, but it's because I always forget to take my camera when I go out. Plus I don't like looking like a tourist. Anyways, here are some from our day trip to Greenwich Village and a walk in Riverside Park.

Walking down the streets of Greenwich Village.

There is a fence in Greenwich Village with ceramic tiles as a memorial to those lost in 9-11. Some of the tiles were stolen at first, so tile makers from all over the country sent more to replace and add to the collection.

Washington Square Park in the middle of Greenwich Village has a beautifully refreshing fountain in the middle where you can watch the kiddies swim and listen to some local street performers. If you look closely, the musician on the right is playing two trumpets at once.

This captures the epic performance of Tic and Tac. We happened to see them one day and mentioned it to a friend who has lived here for 6 years, and she said that they are New York City icons. Their whole performance basically consists of the helicopter (which is pictured here) and them talking in unison (they're twins). It's amazing. They kept a crowd there for almost an hour by promising that something amazing is about to happen. I guess that qualifies them as entertaining, just not in the normal way.

One of the massive cathedrals here that is on the north end of Riverside Park.

Some park benches.

A view of New Jersey and the Hudson.

Anyone recognize the location of these two pictures? No, then you need to review epic chick flicks of the 90's.  This is the spot in You've Got Mail where they meet at the very end--Riverside Park and 91st. I love running into movie scenes here. In fact, the storefront of the diner from Seinfeld is just 6 blocks down from us.
