Shabbat

Still no pictures of Central Park leaves, I'm sad to say. We've been inside most of the weekend waiting for a storm to hit, plus it's been cloudy since Tuesday, so maybe later.

Saturday we were invited to Shabbat dinner by one of Dane's law school friends. We got to learn a bit about some of the traditions and have good food and conversation, all kosher of course. We were the only non-Jewish people there, but it was so comfortable to be around other people who are as religious as us. We had some great back and forth questions about missionary work and food restrictions, and I really do feel that people of faith should know more about each other because we're going to have to stick together more on the bigger picture things. I have so much respect for any culture or religion that has a strong sense of community, and I love being a visitor in those other communities.

It seems like every week I have a new reason to be impressed by how intelligent or driven or cultured people are here, and I wonder how Dane and I fit in. I think we're still in the sponge phase where we are just sucking up the cool factor from everyone around us.
