More visitors
This last weekend we had two sets of visitors in town. Dane's parents came for a financial conference on Wall Street and spent the weekend with us. It was fun showing off our new life and seeing them enjoy the city. They were nice enough to take us to Mary Poppins for our first Broadway experience, and it was spectacular. I've been to a few touring shows in Arizona (Les Miserables and Beauty and the Beast), but there is something special about a show on Broadway with the lights of TimesSquare and the different theatres. The musical was much closer to the Disney version than I'd been told, but with enough differences that I wanted to see the movie to compare. Other than leaving out the sister suffrogate story line, so classic, I don't know which I prefer. And now I've had 'Step in Time' stuck in my head for 3 days, and that's going to have to stop.
Our other visitors were some friends from Provo. They were headed to Turkey for a week long excursion, but made their New York layover longer so they could see us. What good friends we have. I've come to the conclusion that having frequent friends visit is almost as good as living near them. We may not be able to spend time together whenever we want, but when we do, it's more of an occassion, more concentrated. And I can live with that.
