Gyeongbokgung Palace

This entry was supposed to post last week, but it must not have gone through, but here it is now.

Dane has been working for two weeks, and neither of them has been a full 5 days because of all the Spring holidays here. It's GREAT.

Yesterday we took advantage of Buddha's birthday to visit the royal palace here. There are a few in Seoul, but Gyeongbokgung is the largest of those built during the Joseon Dynasty (time period right before Japanese invasion).

Before heading up to the palace we were in the neighborhood around the palace. It is known for it's traditional hanok homes that were here hundreds of years ago but have all been remodeled for living in today.

The whole day was gray and drizzly, which made for a great ambience walking through the narrow streets in the Bukchon hanok village and the grounds of the palace. Of course, we ended the day with a nice dinner of pork lettuce wraps (very different than the ones at PF Changs) and some kimchi and rice. So now it's already Wednesday, and we're taking off early on Friday for Busan, so I don't know if I'll be able to back to 40 hour weeks when we get back.
