Time has been going so fast here. I feel like we're kind of getting a second glimpse of single life by living so closely with the other 14 BYU students out here, and we are loving it. Every day our compound is a scramble of work on our multiple research experiments mixed with a little school work. It is hard to keep track of everything and everyone, but we seem to be accomplishing a lot of what we are supposed to. Every night we have great discussions that start at dinner and sometimes go for hours. I love living with a bunch of development nerds.
We bought a soccer ball a few days ago for the group, and today was our first game. We only convinced 5 people to play, and we were struggling to get much of a game going at the air strip--the only flat, grassy area around--when a group of high school boys walked by. As soon as we asked they started ripping off their sweaters and shoes. They were a lot of fun.
After playing, we decided to splurge a little on dinner. Someone here made the comment that we are probably having a hard time living around singles again and should have a date night, so we did. The restaurant is called the Lawns and is known for its game meats. We had some crocodile, wildabeast, and springbok. I was expecting gamey and tough, but the wildabeast just melted. The crocodile was pretty fun too. The restaurants in Kampala are notorious for being incredibly good, and we have yet to be disappointed. We just heard of a Korean restaurant in our neighborhood too, so that may very well be the next hit.
Hmmmmmm, sounds like an interesting diet--I knew you would taste all kinds of foods. So glad everything and everyone is doing so well--sign of a well organized group. Missing you but loving who you and Dane are and the good you do in life.
