I can't believe we're only 2 weeks away from coming home. We have so much left to do with the research--everyone is starting to feel the pressure, but I think we should be able to collect all the data we need before leaving. There are so many unplanned difficulties of trying to work in a different economic and cultural world.
Last weekend we went rafting, but with being gone in Rwanda and everything else, I never had a chance to post photos from it. It was such a crazy time. The biggest rapid was a class 5 (not usually done in the US, but the Nile is deeper, so it's less dangerous). On all the other rapids our guide said that we could choose to flip or not, and that if we did, we should try to hold onto the boat and our oar. On this one, "the bad place", all he said is that there is no way not to flip, and once you do, let go of everything. I don't even remember falling out, just coming up coughing after having my body ripped around by the white water. That my have been the single funnest day we have had here yet, and it was definitely worth the potential Nile parasites and crocodiles.
Jealous. Really.
