T.H.A.N.K.S.G.I.V.I.N.G

I am sitting in Vegas with my family, no work for 5 days, lots of good food to come, and life could not be better.

We're a family of tradition. Every year, my Dad plays Cranberry Caper and sneaks the cranberry sauce from the counter right before we're about to eat. We have to use clues to solve the elaborate scavenger hunts that he creates before dinner can go on. We looked forward to this so much every year, and now, even though we're older, it's still a part of every Thanksgiving.

Then there is the pomegranate salad. My Dad's family (most of our traditions involve Dad since this is his favorite holiday) hales from Bunkerville, NV where pink pomegranates abound. They grew up eating pomegranate salad, and since they are ripe around Thanksgiving, they have made it into the traditional lineup of Thanksgiving dishes.

And of course we have to make gingersnap turkeys every year. No one much cares for eating them, but there is something important about making them. This one too originated in Bunkerville. I think Gran taught us the art, and Kyle makes sure it happens every year.

Really, my favorite part is just sitting around with family, not doing anything but talking.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
